Village In Bloom 2019 - We Need Your help

Oxspring Parish Council entered the RHS 'It's your Neighbourhood' competition last year and at the awards event in September 2018, children from the local school and representatives from the Parish Council were extremely pleased to receive a Level 5 Outstanding certificate.

Feedback from the judges suggested that the Council should consider applying for the next category of 'Village in Bloom'.

After much discussion, it was decided that we should submit an application in 2019 but there is a lot of work to be done to get the village ready for such a prestigious competition.

We are now at the planning stage and part of the judging process is to consider what public involvement there has been in putting our displays on show.

We are seeking to enlist the help of volunteers from across the village who we hope will help in the planning, growing and planting, of plants, and flowers.

If you could spare a few hours to help with the preparations, we would be delighted to hear from you.

The work will entail preparing new flower beds, growing plants from seed and planting up the beds and tubs that will be needed to ensure that we have a fabulous display.

The hanging baskets along with the baskets along the frontage of the Willows will still be supplied by Barnsley Council and paid for by the Parish Council and will enhance any additional flower planting that we undertake.

If you feel you could help in any way, please contact us at email: clerk@oxspring-parish.com or Tel: 01226 792657.
