Oxspring is a small but growing village community of under 500 households nestling in the eastern foothills of the Pennines a short journey from Barnsley and the M1. Sheffield, Wakefield, Leeds and Manchester are all within a 30 miles radius.
Many community groups are active in the village, which has a Post Office and general store and two pubs with resaurants. Business units can be found within the parish in a purpose built estate or converted mill. Traditional local business of wire drawing and milling are still carried on.
Oxspring is surrounded by open rolling agricultural countryside with the River Don flowing through it. A fine network of footpaths cross this rural landscape linking it with dramatic and wooded scenery, and the nearby moorland habitats. All these are crossed by the Trans Pennine Trail bringing visitors to the village on foot, horseback or cycle to enjoy the many varied and community owned open areas which make Oxspring.
