Public Land and Buildings

 

Oxspring Parish Council has responsibility for the following pieces of land within the Parish.

 

The Parish Council does not own any buildings within the Parish.

 

Village Green and Play Area

 

Situated at the heart of the village on Sheffield Road.  This piece of land incorporates a Children’s adventure play area and a Village Green with picnic tables.  A car park for approximately 10 cars is situated at the entrance to the Village Green.

 

This land was purchased in 1975.

 

Rookery

 

This triangular piece of wooded land is located opposite the Village Green on the corner of Roughbirchworth Land and Sheffield Road.

 

This land was purchased in 1980.

 

Oxspring Playingfield

 

The Playingfield on Sheffield Road was purchased in two stages.  It incorporates football pitches, a circular footpath, and a car park for approximately 10 cars.

 

This land was purchased in 1952.

 

Bower Dell

 

This square piece of land at the bottom of Bower Hill is a riverside picnic site, with plenty of green space.

 

This land was purchased in 1980.

 

 

The Anthills

 

The Anthills is a piece of land behind West Crescent, it incorporates the West Crescent Allotments, natural landscape and a footpath to the Trans Pennine Trail.

 

This land was purchased in 1988.

 

Roughbirchworth Allotments

 

Triangular piece of land located on Long Lane incorporating 8 allotments.

 

This land was purchased in 1980.

 

Clays Green Allotments

 

Rectangle piece of land located on the corner of Bower Hill and the A629 incorporating 6 allotments.

 

This land was purchased in 1980.

 

Castle Green

 

This triangular piece of land on Castle Lane is green space, with space for some cars to park.

 

This land was purchased in 1980.

 

Gordon’s Garden

 

This Memorial Garden featuring seating and wildflower planting on Sheffield Road, opposite the primary school was named after the late Gordon Wood, who owned the Garage that was previously on this site.  The grass strip alongside the road in front of the garden also belongs to the Parish Council.

 

This land was purchased in 2008 and 2012.
